PSIPW Holds a 'Prize Day' at Delft City Hall

HRH Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz & HRH The Prince of OrangeAt the generous invitation of His Royal Highness, Prince Willem-Alexander, Prince of Orange, the Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz International Prize for Water (PSIPW) held a Prize Day event on 30 October 2009 in Delft, The Netherlands.

The Prize Day event was set in the historic City Hall of Delft – parts of which date back to the 13th Century – in conjunction with a dinner hosted by the Mayor of Delft, who opened the event with a welcoming address.

His Royal Highness Prince Willem-Alexander, Prince of Orange addressed the assembly, followed by an address by the Prize Council Chairman, His Royal Highness Prince Khaled Bin Sultan Bin Abdulaziz.

The Prize film entitled Recognizing Innovation in Water-Related Fields was screened, followed by an introduction to the Prize by PSIPW General Secretary Dr. Abdulmalek A. Al Alshaikh. A DVD copy of the film was also presented to each of the guests.

Then Mr. Jeroen van der Sommen, director of the Netherlands Water partnership (NWP) spoke about The Netherlands water sector.

The Prize Day event was hailed as a success by those who attended it. The PSIPW "Prize Day" events have a double purpose. One aim is to introduce the Prize and calling for nominations. The other aim is to bring people together from different parts of the world who share a concern for water-related issues so that they may exchange ideas and share their experiences.
