4th Award Nominations Higher than Ever

PSIPW TrophyThe initial review of applications reveals that the 4th Award of the Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz International Prize for Water has received a total of 205 nominations from 53 different countries.

This exceeds the number for the 3rd Award (2006-2008), for which 198 nominations were received.

These nominations were well distributed among the five branches of the Prize.

There were 39 nominations for the Surface Water Prize, for which the topic for the 4th Award was: "Innovative Methods for Rain and Runoff Water Modeling"

There were 34 nominations for the Groundwater Prize, for which the 4th Award topic was: "Assessment and Control of Radioactive Contamination in Groundwater"

There were 30 nominations for the Alternative (Non-traditional) Water Resources Prize, for which the topic was: "Innovative Methods for Water Production from Non-Traditional Water Resources"

There were 53 nominations for the Water Resources Management & Protection Prize, which had the topic: "Remote Sensing and GIS Applications for Water Resources Management"

For all of these prizes, individuals, groups and organizations nominated their own works in hopes of winning the Prize.

Finally, the Creativity Prize received 49 nominations on behalf of leading scientists and inventors from various prestigious organizations around the world. The nominating organizations including universities, research establishments, government agencies, and NGOs.

All of these nominations are now undergoing the first step of a rigorous three-tiered referee process, a process which will conclude on 10 October 2010 with the announcement of the winners.

The Awards ceremony for the 4th Award (2008-2010) will be held at the 4th International Conference on Water Resources and Arid Environments (ICWRAE 4) on 5 December 2010.
