The United Nations and the Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz International Prize for Water co-organise the International Conference on the Use of Space Technology for Water Management every three years in various host countries around the world. Previous conferences have been held in Riyadh, Buenos Aires, and Rabat.
Applications for nominations to the 8th Award (2018) officially closed on 31 December 2017. Nominations were received from 50 countries, with many countries represented by multiple nominations. Once again, more nominations were submitted than at any time in the Prize's history.
PSIPW Chairman, HRH Prince Khaled Bin Sultan, gave the opening address at the 4th Arab Water Forum on 27 November, in his capacity as the Arab Water Council’s honorary president.
The Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz International Prize for Water was honoured to send a Party-level delegate to the Conference of the 23rd Conference of Parties on Climate Change, which was held at the UN Campus in Bonn Germany from 6-17 November 2017.
At a meeting held alongside the 60th session of the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (UN COPUOS), held at the United Nations headquarters in Vienna from 7 to16 June 2017, PSIPW and UN officials agreed to an expansion of the scope of the Memorandum of Understanding they ratified last year.
